Who could be centrally contracted next season?

Post by Old Parish on Tue Dec 31, 2013 10:35 pm

Now Leigh Halfpenny seems to have signed for Toulon next year the pool of current elite players out of contract next season is shrinking further. A lot of players have clearly decided it is better to have the "bird in the hand" of a contract with a French or English club than wait and see what happens in Wales.

Sam Warburton, Alun Wyn Jones, Adam Jones, Scott Williams, Bradley Davies and Rhys Priestland are still in the group of players that have not jumped in any direction yet. I think Gethin Jenkins only signed for this season at the Blues, so he would also be available.  Any others?

Looks as though some players are really waiting to see what happens within the next 24hours, but will things be any clearer?
If I were an out of contract player I would sign for someone who wanted me and was willing to pay the price. Right now that's hardly the regions and definately not the WRU.
